AbstractUsing succinimidyl ester reactive groups, even very sensitive peptides with reactive amino acids such as cysteine, lysine and the N-terminus can be labeled with great specificity. An amino acid containing a secondary aminooxy group is readily incorporated into a peptide using normal peptide synthesis protocols. This aminooxy group will react selectively with label even in the presence of the aforementioned reactive amino acids. A family of labeled peptide and proteins with attached molecules at different positions can be readily generated.
